About Ashley Z.
It’s been a long and inspiring journey for ZAMRIE – Gootee’s (formerly Zygmunt) formal fashion training took her from design school at Purdue University in Indiana to programs in Italy and Hong Kong, ultimately landing her in NYC where she sharpened some serious design chops in the fashion capital working under Zac Posen and Peter Som. Lending her talents to everyday women, Ashley also collaborated on three apparel lines for retail giant Wal-Mart™ doing mostly technical work. Though content with her job, Ashley yearned for the creative buzz she’d enjoyed while working in high fashion – particularly from working on two New York Fashion Weeks. Ashley then decided to Google™ “Chicago Fashion” and found an application to the Chicago Fashion Incubator, an elite program sponsored by the City of Chicago and Macy’s™. There was just a week left to apply.
Everything happened so fast: one week after applying she was told she had an interview and two weeks after the interview, Ashley was accepted to Chicago Fashion Incubator as 1 of 6 designers for the 2009 class. She walked away from the NYC fashion scene, packed her (very nicely-stocked) suitcases and headed back to her hometown, Chicago. She opened a studio and launched the ZAMRIE label, a culmination of years of training and her passion for making beautiful clothing wearable on the streets of her favorite city and cities around the globe. ™. There was just a week left to apply.
Recently, Ashley, this time with her husband, once again packed up their suitcases and moved to Nashville, where the fashion scene is about to set fire! She is a member of the Nashville Fashion Alliance
and continues to find inspiration for upcoming styles in Music City! Ashley loves hearing from her customers, so feel free to shoot her an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ashley's view on ZAMRIE:
"No matter a woman's social class, I can guarantee that almost every woman owns a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt, whether they are from Neiman Marcus or Wal-Mart. I wanted to create a line that all women could relate to by styling items on how they feel - still having every piece fashion forward and appropriate at any age. Some days women may want to look like a model, or sometimes they just wanna wear their favorite pair of jeans. No matter what you are feeling, ZAMRIE can accommodate that; and let the woman dress herself based on how she feels by always being classy and put together."
